Organizational leadership and executive trust
I've had the pleasure of working closely with Jean leading a 50 persons marketplace team at Careem , and I can confidently say that he is one of the most impactful product leaders I've encountered. As the Lead for Marketplace at Careem, Jean has consistently demonstrated strategic vision and execution excellence across multiple high-impact areas. Under his leadership, the matching, health, ETA, routing, and B2B logistics teams have flourished. He set a robust strategy that not only improved our ETA adherence by 20pp, but also introduced Careem's first-ever demand shaping and supply positioning products—pioneering innovations that have significantly enhanced our marketplace efficiency. Jean also led critical initiatives that directly contributed to the stability and reliability of our operations. His efforts in reducing the app shutdown time to zero minutes and minimizing routing and ETA fluctuations by an impressive 98% stand as a testament to his deep technical understanding and commitment to operational excellence. Jean has also shown exceptional leadership in developing his team and maximizing their potential. He successfully mentored a junior PM, guiding them to reach a Senior 1 level, and coached a senior PM to become his successor. Through his mentorship, Jean has cultivated a team that built a strong product foundation, enabling rapid product evolution and quick time to market. Jean is a leader who brings a rare blend of strategic foresight, technical expertise, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. His contributions have left an indelible mark on our marketplace, and he is an asset to any team he joins.
I had the pleasure of working closely with Jean. Jean is one of the most structured, methodical, and intellectually rigorous product leaders I’ve encountered. He consistently demonstrates the ability to dive deep into highly technical domains—whether it's machine learning-driven Marketplace optimization or operationally complex areas like captain acquisition and growth. He brings clarity and precision to every problem space he tackles. What sets Jean apart is his rare combination of technical depth, business acumen, and people leadership. He’s built and scaled high-performing teams, mentoring product managers and data analysts to develop analytical rigor, structured problem-solving, and customer-first thinking. Under his leadership, the team became a benchmark for excellence in product management—both in the quality of the products they shipped and the maturity of their execution. Jean also invests heavily in the growth of his team, helping them refine their soft skills, gain cross-functional influence, and develop into well-rounded leaders themselves. His impact has been both broad and deep - transforming his organization while delivering meaningful outcomes for the business and exceptional experiences for customers.
Jean is one of the most principled, clear-headed, and empowering leaders I’ve worked with. Over two and a half years, I’ve seen him consistently demonstrate exceptional product thinking, sharp strategic judgment, and deep empathy for his team. He brings a first-principles mindset to every problem, pushes for robust, scalable solutions, and holds the bar high on detail and execution. Jean doesn’t just ship features — he builds systems that last. As a manager, Jean leads with clarity and candor. He shares feedback in real-time, aligns expectations early, and creates an environment of high trust and ownership. His commitment to individual growth is unmatched — offering frameworks, coaching, and visibility that have accelerated my development as a product leader. Jean is also unafraid to challenge assumptions, speak up for what’s right, and engage in principled debate at the highest levels — always with integrity and focus on impact. He’s a rare combination of strategic thinker, builder, and people-first leader.
I worked with Jean in Swiggy. I found him to be a very dedicated and focused person. He was managing an entire product charter and producing results independently. He has a good product sense and is able to execute well. Also a shout out to his stakeholder management capabilities. Hope to work again with Jean some day.
Platform strategy and operational execution
It’s been a pleasure partnering with Jean, my primary stakeholder on the Mobility of Things Marketplace product team, over the past two years. Together, we’ve driven meaningful impact—delivering more accurate ETA predictions, a finer-grained health diagnosis of the marketplace, and smarter demand-shaping and supply-positioning strategies. Jean communicates with clarity, confidence, and candor. I consistently value his honest, straightforward feedback—he never shies away from challenging conversations. He’s also deeply supportive, possesses a strong grasp of technical details, and always lets the data guide decisions. Above all, Jean is a rapid collaborator: whenever an issue surfaced, he was quick to roll up his sleeves and help resolve it. His blend of technical fluency, trust in analytics, and proactive partnership has been instrumental to our collective success.
I had a pleasure of working directly with Jean on a number of highly complex safety problems at Grab. I’ve always found him to be very diligent, highly data driven and action oriented. It was very easy to observe his passion for good product management. Not only did he push himself to constantly improve, but through his dedications and sound reasoning, he also helped guide the rest of his team and his leaders in making the best decisions possible for Grab product users.
Eye for detail, customer obsession & the love for great products makes Jean a very good product manager. I've had the opportunity of collaborating with him on Grab's safety product suite and have witnessed firsthand his passion for building data-driven products centered around solutions to complex safety problems & delightful user-experiences through rigorous experimentation. His strength is the critical thinking that he brings to the table to persuade & influence the stakeholders to a logical consensus for abstract problems. He would be a great asset to have in any product organisation.
Jean has been one of the most creative and passionate product managers I have worked with. He released a wide array of features while at Grab, essentially bringing parity with our peers, and that was within a year. He was well respected by the engineers, we relied on his depth of understanding, ability to bridge the gap between customer needs, business asks and technical reality. Jean also has been an enthusiastic team member, organizer, blended very well with geographically and culturally diverse teams. He had the ability to bring everyone together, connect at personal levels, and never forget the fact that we work and win as a team.
Cross-functional leadership through ambiguity
I had the pleasure of working with Jean on a variety of projects at Grab. On one of our complicated projects, Jean came in when the project was at the half way point. While different functions of the team were working well at our own tasks, Jean was the one who brought the whole team together. He did this by asking the right questions, and rethinking the product strategy along with creating a mental platform where the product strategy became transparent. He learns unfamiliar topics really well which helps him understand complexity of research, implementation and engineering trade-offs. He thinks about the end user of the product as well and how the product will be perceived by the user. He is honest about his achievements, and uses setbacks as a motivation to turn around products which were not succeeding. He has done this for multiple products at Grab. He has an amazing capability to build relationships and trust with various functions including engineering, business, UI designers, Ops and data science teams. He can start from scratch or can take the product to the finish line while joining half way. Any team would be lucky to have Jean on their side !
Jean is a highly accomplished Product Manager with a high degree of analytical aptitude, a good sense for user needs, and a solid knowledge of front and backend technologies. He’s hands down, a valuable part of the product team and always asks the hard questions to push product innovation and change direction/scope to meet deadlines and goals.
Jean is an extremely passionate Product Manager, who tries to build complete solutions to a problem. I have had the pleasure of working with him for close to 2 years. He is focused on delivering the best to the customers and as a result have had the privilege of having quite a few enriching brainstorming and problem solving sessions with him. He is a person who learns constantly and is very adaptable to changing circumstances. With great pleasure, I recommend him and wish a lot more success that he fully deserves.
Analytical judgment and customer-backed decisions
Jean is one of the most analytical and sharp minds I have worked with, he's data-driven and motivated to achieve the best for his customers through his products. He's laser focused on moving the needle and metrics for what he's working on. It was nice watching Jean grow in his role and within the team and organization over the year that we worked together. I'd love to work with Jean again.
Working with Jean has been one of the most impactful professional partnerships of my career. What sets Jean apart isn't just his product instinct — it's how he thinks. He has a rare ability to cut through ambiguity and reframe problems in ways that suddenly make the path forward obvious. Working alongside him fundamentally changed how I approach analytics: he pushed me to think less like a data farmer and more like someone who uses data to drive decisions. The way he frames a problem, selects the right angle to investigate, and presents findings to senior stakeholders raised my own bar in ways I'm still drawing from. He's also genuinely unusual in his technical range. Jean can sit in a room with engineers and speak their language, then walk into a leadership meeting and make the same idea land for a non-technical audience. The fact that he runs his own SQL and leverages AI tools to build dashboards for self-serve analysis tells you something about how seriously he takes understanding the data — not just the output. And the fact that he actively embraces new technology to do it shows someone who never stops learning and adapting. That kind of intellectual curiosity is hard to fake and harder to teach. What I valued most, though, was that he was always open to discussion. His judgment was sharp, but he never made you feel like the conversation was already over. He created space to share feedback, think out loud, and grow — and that's what made collaborating with him feel less like a working relationship and more like learning from someone who genuinely wanted you to get better. Any team that gets Jean is lucky.
I had the opportunity to work with Jean at Swiggy. The qualities that stand out while working with Jean is his data-driven sense of product solutioning and his obsession with the consumer. Jean is a consumer psychology expert and I am lucky to have picked up quite a few behavior modeling frameworks from him. It was a pleasure collaborating with him.
Jean is a really self-motivated individual. He understands what work is priority and what is not. I like to discuss product ideas with him whenever we meet or talk. He is on his way to become a good product leader. All the very best Jean!
